Multi-disciplined.
While at Dyson, I worked on a project related to the Dyson Zone—a combination of noise-cancelling headphones and a removable visor that provides purifies air.
-
Engineer
My role involved managing the visor section, developing models for airflow around the face. I tested these models in a specialized purification efficacy test lab. This work required expertise in fluids, MATLAB, and anthropometrics
-
Design for Social Acceptance
I addressed the social acceptability issue with the Dyson Zone. I developed a testing program to understand what makes products socially acceptable. This program was later adapted into a product verification test. As a result, I traveled to Shanghai and Beijing to assess the social acceptance of future wearable projects.

Mechanical Designer
Designing components that fit around a face is difficult due the differences in facial feature size throughout different populations. To compound this, the visor was an organically shaped object which required modelling complex surfaces. I managed the development of this complex assembly, producing functional prototypes that were trialled on users in China.
